Three Palmettos, three repair styles
The city and its surroundings cover a lot of ground for one name. We sort the work roughly by where your home sits and when it was built.
The older core
Streets near downtown Palmetto and the riverfront hold some of the oldest homes north of the river. Expect plaster, wood lath, hand-applied textures and ceilings that have been patched more than once. Our lath and plaster repair is suited to these.
Waterfront and peninsula homes
Out toward Terra Ceia and Snead Island, homes near the water deal with humid air, wind-driven rain and storm surge. Lower-wall replacement and leak-damaged ceilings make up much of the work.
Newer subdivisions
Developments east of town and along the US 301 side are young houses still settling. Nail pops, cracked ceiling joints and corner-bead dings are normal in the first years and simple to fix well.
A closer look at new-build settling
If you bought a new home in the Palmetto area and see small round bumps on walls or straight cracks along the ceiling, you are not alone. Lumber in new framing dries and shrinks during its first air-conditioned seasons, pushing fasteners outward and stressing tape joints. Roof trusses can also lift slightly with temperature changes, opening the joint where wall meets ceiling.
These are usually cosmetic. We reset popped fasteners, add a screw beside each one, and re-tape cracked seams before refinishing. If your builder warranty covers drywall, check it first; if it has ended or the builder's fix did not hold, our crack and seam repair service handles it. Waiting until the first year or two have passed lets most of the settling happen before you invest in a final fix.
Old plaster deserves a careful hand
Plaster walls are harder and denser than drywall, and they move differently. When they crack, the crack usually follows the lath behind. Patching with lightweight spackle leaves a soft spot that cracks again.
Our plaster work starts by checking whether the plaster is still keyed to the lath. Loose areas are reattached; missing areas are rebuilt with compatible base and finish coats or, where it makes sense, a piece of board set flush and skimmed. The goal is a wall that looks original and stays together. Danny, our plaster specialist, oversees this kind of work.

Water, wind and the river
Homes close to the Manatee River and the bay edges of Terra Ceia have a different list. Storm-driven rain gets past window and slider seals, and the board below the sill softens over time. Wet insulation in exterior walls can stay damp long after the surface looks dry. Before we close anything up, we check moisture with a meter and look for staining on the back of removed board, which tells us how far the water traveled. Replacing a little extra now is better than reopening the wall next season.
Where else we work nearby
Palmetto neighbors include Ellenton to the east along the river, Memphis to the north and Bradenton just across the bridges. For new-home owners farther north, our Parrish page covers the growth corridor. See the Manatee County overview for the full list.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you repair plaster in older Palmetto houses?
Yes. We stabilize cracked or loose plaster, rebuild missing sections with compatible materials and blend the patch with the wall around it. Where plaster has failed beyond saving, we can cut back to a sound edge and set drywall flush, then skim it to match.
My new Palmetto home has cracks where the walls meet the ceiling. Why?
That is often truss movement, which lifts the ceiling slightly as the attic heats and cools. It is common in newer homes. We re-tape the joint, and in some cases recommend a flexible approach at the corner so normal movement does not reopen it.
Can you repair drywall after storm water in a waterfront home?
Yes, once wet material has been removed and the framing is confirmed dry. We hang moisture-resistant board where appropriate, finish it, and match the existing texture so the rebuilt section blends with the rest of the room.
Do I need to be home during the repair?
Not necessarily. Many customers give a lockbox code or have a family member let us in. We do ask that you, or someone you choose, walk the finished work with us before payment.
