Contractor Damage Drywall Repair
Movers, installers, remodelers and every other trade can leave walls worse than they found them. We clean up after them: gouges, dents, torn drywall paper, half-finished patches and the marks left when cabinets, mirrors or mounts come off, finished to a standard ready for paint and handover.

Cleaning up after other trades
Most wall damage on a project is nobody's real fault. A ladder slips, an appliance is wheeled through a tight doorway, a cabinet installer pries off an old backsplash, or a trade patches its own hole with whatever was in the truck. The result is the same: walls that are not ready for paint at exactly the moment everyone wants the job finished.
We are the finishing crew that comes in last. We do not need to know who caused each mark. We walk the property, list every defect, quote it in writing and leave the walls and ceilings consistent and ready for the painter or for handover.
If the damage came from a specific trade, we have dedicated pages on patching after plumbing work, closing holes left by electricians and ceiling repair after AC and duct work. This page covers everything else, and jobs where several trades have been through.
The damage we fix most often
Gouges and scrapes
Long scrapes from furniture, appliances and tools are cleaned up, any torn paper is sealed, and the area is skimmed flat.
Dents and dings
Shallow dents from ladders and dollies are filled in thin coats rather than one thick fill that shrinks.
Doorknob holes
A door swung open without a stop leaves a round hole at handle height. We back it, fit a new piece and suggest fitting a door stop so it does not happen again.
Crushed corners
Dented or split outside corners get new corner bead where needed, then are bedded and feathered to a straight, sharp edge.
Torn drywall paper
Removing cabinets, mirrors, wallpaper, tile or glued-on panels often rips the face paper. Those areas are sealed before skimming so they do not bubble.
Rough patches by other trades
Bulging, sunken or untextured patches left by others are cut out or built up and blended into the surrounding wall.
Mount and anchor holes
Holes from TV brackets, shelving, curtain rods and grab bars are filled and textured, including torn-out anchors.
Remodel leftovers
Changed cabinet layouts, removed fixtures and other trades' cuts leave ragged edges, gaps and mismatched patches that need repairing and blending.
Repairing torn paper, the problem most patches miss
When drywall's face paper is torn, the brown under-layer of paper is exposed. If joint compound goes straight onto it, moisture from the compound soaks into the paper, it swells, and the repair erupts into bubbles and blisters. That is why so many quick patches after a cabinet or mirror removal look worse a day later.
The fix is simple but often skipped. Loose paper is trimmed away, and the torn area is sealed with a stain-blocking or shellac-based primer that locks the fibres down. Only then do we skim it, in thin coats, sanding lightly between them under HEPA dust control. On large areas such as a wall where a backsplash or glued mirror came off, a full skim coat across the wall gives a uniform surface for paint.
If the old texture has to be recreated afterwards, our wall and ceiling texture matching handles orange peel, knockdown and smooth finishes.

How a contractor damage job runs
Walk the property or review photos
Send photos to 727-242-8500 or meet us on site. We note each defect by room so nothing is missed and the scope is clear to everyone.
Written quote and schedule
You get a written quote, usually within the hour for photo quotes, and that quote is the final price. We schedule around flooring, cabinet and paint crews.
Protect and repair
Floors and finished surfaces are protected, HEPA dust control is set up, and each repair is backed, filled, taped or skimmed as needed.
Texture and prime
Repairs are textured to match and primed so the painter or the owner can roll paint straight on.
Walkthrough before payment
We check each item on the list with you or your site lead before payment, and the work carries our one-year written workmanship warranty.
Working with general contractors, property managers and realtors
General contractors
On remodels we pick up the drywall punch list at the end of the job: trade damage, small patches and touch-ups that hold up final paint. You get one point of contact and a written scope, and our technicians are background-checked.
Property managers and landlords
Between tenants, rentals often have doorknob holes, anchor holes and scuffed corners. We turn those around as part of a make-ready, with photos and a written quote you can approve remotely.
Realtors and sellers
Inspection reports and listing photos expose wall damage. We fix the items before photos or before closing, and can work from a list sent by the agent when the owner is away.
Spot repair, skim or replace a section?
Spot-repair individual dents, holes and gouges when they are scattered and the rest of the wall is sound.
Skim the damaged area when torn paper, adhesive residue or many small repairs cluster together.
Cut in new board where damage goes through the drywall, the edges are crushed or a previous patch has failed.
Replace a damaged section when a trade has left part of a wall heavily cut up, which often takes less time than dozens of separate patches. Our damaged drywall replacement service covers that work; hanging board on new or moved framing is for your general contractor.
Getting ready for the repair
Gather the damage in one list: walk each room with painter's tape and mark every dent, hole and scrape, then photograph them. That list becomes the scope, and it makes the walkthrough at the end quick.
Try to book us after the other trades have finished in each area, but before final paint. Clear furniture back from marked walls, and let us know about delicate finishes nearby such as new countertops or flooring. Most small patches are done in two to four hours; bigger jobs with texture and dry time usually take one to three days.
We repair contractor damage throughout Hillsborough, Pinellas, Polk, Manatee, Pasco and Sarasota counties. If you are in the city, see our Tampa drywall repair contractors, or visit the Hillsborough County drywall services hub for everything nearby.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you need to know which contractor caused the damage?
No. We repair what is in front of us and list it clearly on a written quote. If you plan to ask another contractor or an insurer to cover the cost, our itemised quote and before photos can help, but deciding who pays is between you and them.
How do you fix a doorknob hole in drywall?
We cut the hole to a clean shape, fasten backing inside, fit a new piece of drywall flush with the wall, tape and fill it with setting compound and match the texture. We also recommend a door stop or wall bumper so the knob does not punch through again.
Can you finish a punch list before a closing or tenant move-in?
Yes, as long as there is time for the compound and texture to dry before paint. Send the list and photos, and we will quote it in writing and schedule it so the walls are ready for the painter or the final walkthrough.
Why did the patch the last contractor did bubble?
Usually because compound was spread over torn drywall paper without sealing it first. The paper absorbs moisture, swells and lifts. We trim the loose paper, seal it with a stain-blocking primer and skim it again so it stays flat.
Do you only work in Hillsborough County?
No. We handle contractor damage repairs in all six counties we serve: Hillsborough, Pinellas, Polk, Manatee, Pasco and Sarasota. Text photos and the property address to 727-242-8500 for a written quote, usually within the hour.
