Where Pinellas meets Hillsborough
Oldsmar sits at the very top of Old Tampa Bay, in the northeast corner of Pinellas County. Tampa Road runs through it toward Westchase and the Hillsborough line, and East Lake and Safety Harbor are close by. Much of the housing is in subdivisions built more recently than the older parts of the county, along with townhomes and some waterfront streets near the bay.
Newer construction is generally tight and well-insulated, but it moves as it settles and dries out, and that shows up in the drywall first.
Problems we see in younger Oldsmar homes
Nail and screw pops
Small round bumps or cracked circles on walls and ceilings, caused by framing lumber drying and shrinking away from the fastener. We drive a new screw beside it, remove the old one and refinish.
Ceiling-to-wall cracks
A crack along the top of an interior wall that opens and closes with the seasons often comes from roof trusses lifting slightly. The fix is to detach the corner from the truss movement, not just fill it.
Corner bead cracks
Hairlines along outside corners and around window returns, especially where bead was fastened lightly.
Builder-grade texture
Thin, uneven orange peel that's tricky to match. We adjust the mix and spray pressure until the patch blends.
Fixing a seasonal crack the right way
Truss-related cracks come back if you just fill them. Here's how we approach them:
Confirm the cause
We check whether the crack runs along the top plate of an interior wall and whether it changes with the seasons.
Release the corner
Where appropriate, fasteners near the corner are adjusted so the ceiling can float rather than pull.
Use a flexible joint
A flexible corner treatment or bead is applied so small movement doesn't crack the finish.
Finish and texture
We blend the corner into both surfaces. Our crack and seam repair page explains more.
Upgrades that leave holes behind
Oldsmar homeowners are always adding something: whole-house water treatment, smart thermostats, recessed lights, new ceiling fans, surround-sound wiring. Each project means someone cutting into a finished wall. We close those openings after the electrician has finished or the plumber has packed up, and match the texture so the new feature looks like it was always there.
Every job comes with a written quote that is the final price and a 1-year workmanship warranty.

Still under a builder warranty?
If your Oldsmar home is new enough to be covered by a builder's warranty, check that first: some builders schedule a drywall touch-up visit within the first year or two. Keep a list of nail pops and cracks as they appear so they can all be handled together.
Once that coverage has ended, or if the builder's fix didn't last, we're happy to help. We re-fasten rather than just fill, address seasonal cracks with flexible joints, and match the existing paint-ready texture. Our work carries its own 1-year written workmanship warranty, and the written quote you receive is the final price.
On both sides of the county line
Our Clearwater shop is a short drive away, and we serve Oldsmar, Safety Harbor and Tarpon Springs as well as Westchase across the Hillsborough line. For everything we do on this side, see our Pinellas County drywall contracting page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my Oldsmar home have little bumps on the walls?
Those are nail or screw pops. As framing lumber dries and shrinks, the fastener head pushes out through the finish. We add a new screw to pull the board tight, set or remove the old one, and refinish and texture the spot.
A crack opens along my ceiling every winter and closes in summer. What is it?
That pattern often comes from roof trusses moving slightly with temperature and moisture changes, lifting the ceiling away from interior walls. Simply filling it won't last. We adjust how the corner is fastened and use a flexible joint so movement doesn't show.
Are newer homes harder to texture-match?
Sometimes. Builder textures can be thin and inconsistent from room to room. We match the specific wall we're repairing, adjusting the mix and spray until the patch blends with that surface.
