Corner Bead Repair for Lake Wales homes
Lake Wales sits on the Lake Wales Ridge in eastern Polk County, where US 27 and SR 60 cross, and is known for Bok Tower Gardens and its historic downtown near Lake Wailes. Older Mediterranean Revival and bungalow homes with plaster interiors sit alongside mid-century block homes and newer subdivisions.
Coved ceilings and curved walls in older Lake Wales homes need hand-shaped finishing coats over the repair rather than flat, machine-style taping.

How the repair works
Inspect the corner
We check whether the bead is bent, loose, delaminated or rusted, and how far the damage runs.
Cut out the bad section
Compound is scored on both faces and the damaged bead is removed back to sound material.
Install and align new bead
A new length is set dead straight with the existing edge and bedded or fastened firmly.
Finish both faces
Compound is feathered wide, texture matched and the area primed and touch-up painted.

Corner Bead Repair questions
What is corner bead made of?
Usually galvanised steel, paper-faced metal or vinyl. Each forms the straight edge that compound is finished over on an outside corner.
How can I tell if my corner bead is loose?
Press gently along the corner. If it flexes, clicks or you see a crack opening as you push, the bead has come away from the framing.
Why does rust appear on wall corners?
Galvanised metal bead can corrode when exposed to moisture or salt air over time. The rust bleeds through paint as orange streaks.
Can a dented corner be filled instead of replaced?
A shallow ding on solid bead can sometimes be built up with compound. If the metal is bent or loose, filling will not last and the section should be replaced.
